Description

Methodist University, located in Fayetteville, NC, is seeking a full-time, tenure-track OTA faculty member.  Methodist University Occupational Therapy Assistant Program is a 4-year Bachelor of Science program (ACOTE Candidacy status).  Full-time faculty members are required to maintain practice skills and are given one day weekly to engage in clinical practice.  Academic rank and salary are commensurate with level of education as well as professional and academic experience.  We are seeking applicants passionate about teaching who can add to our team approach to occupational therapy education. 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Baccalaureate Project Coordinator and Faculty member is responsible for leveraging their expertise to develop, maintain and deliver core education courses to students through:

  • Preparing course plans, materials, and student assessment methods
  • Delivering course instruction & student evaluation
  • Monitoring academic, clinical skill, and professional behavior progress
  • Facilitating interprofessional and intra-professional learning activities
  • Advising students
  • Establishing and maintaining ongoing professional scholarship and development
  • Maintaining a record of department, university, and community service
  • Coordination and implementation of the curriculum related to the OTA Baccalaureate Project

Other duties:

  • Attend faculty and departmental meetings
  • Participation in the selection of applicants for admission to the program
  • Attend educational conferences and workshops
  • Participation in state and national OT associations, leadership positions are encouraged
  • Other duties as assigned by the dean or department chair

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • May be an initially certified OT or OTA practitioner
  • Must have a minimum of a master’s degree
  • A current, unrestricted North Carolina occupational therapy (OT or OTA) license (or eligible)
  • At least 2 years of clinical practice in the field of occupational therapy
  • Successful applicants will also have a minimum of one year of teaching,
  • Familiarity with ACOTE Standards and the accreditation processes is a plus. 
  • Experience in pediatrics, mental health, and adults preferred but not required.
