Job Description

  • This position reports to the Planning Yard Design Manager, acting as a technical and project liaison.
  • As the liaison for the Manager, this role is responsible to ensure information exchange with stakeholders occurs in order to execute assigned work.
  • Responsible for maintaining an integrated schedule for multiple projects.
  • Performs root cause analysis and associated corrective action plans for identified design issues.
  • Interfaces daily with internal and external customers.
  • Holding regular meetings to ensure that everything is going according to time and budget restrictions.
  • Responsible for preparing, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring the assigned engineering projects.
  • Responsible for monitoring compliance to applicable procedures, practices, quality assurance policies, information technology policies, performance standards and specifications.
  • Interacting daily with the design floor to interpret their needs and requirements.
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, and personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status.
  • Assign responsibilities and mentor project team.
  • Organize the deployment of new software, ensuring to adhere to testing requirements; and providing follow-on training.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in technical, business field or a BIW graduate apprentice (manufacturing or design), or 6 years of job related experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).

Preferred:

  • AutoCAD training/experience.
  • LEAN SIX Sigma training.
  • Agile/SCRUM experience
  • Programming experience.
  • Microsoft Project experience.

Preferred:

  • Familiar with ship specifications as related to design requirements.
  • Working knowledge of the BMDA collective bargaining agreement.
  • Working experience with Earned Value Management.
  • Software Tool development experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Working with end users and developers to create software requirements.
    • Experience developing test procedures and training material from software requirements.
